Subject sought in grab and run theft from mall

Colorado Springs, CO – On August 21, 2024, a jewelry store reported a grab and run theft of a diamond engagement ring. It was reported a male subject entered the store and wanted to look at engagement rings. He was specifically asking about princess cut diamond rings. The subject provided the name of “James” and asked to see a lab created and a natural. He was presented one ring at a time. As the employee was putting the second one back in the showcase, the subject snatched both, one from the presentation pad and one from the employee’s possession. It should be noted the subject was knowledgeable of jewelry. He apologized for wearing a mask as one of his family members was sick. Once taking possession of the rings, the subject then fled from the store.

Subject Description: Light skinned Black male, 22-25yrs old, 6-1”, skinny 160lbs, Black baseball cap on backwards, White Nike pullover hoody, blue surgical mask, black pants and sneakers. No visible marks, scars or tattoo’s.
