Sherman Oaks, CA – Thieves tunneled through a wall to break into Neda Jewelry in Sherman Oaks, CA, early Saturday morning, marking the latest in a string of burglaries targeting retailers in the San Fernando Valley, according to news reports.

Surveillance footage captured suspects entering a business adjacent to the Ventura Boulevard shop before tearing through a shared bathroom wall to gain entry. Once inside, the burglars crawled across the floor and smashed equipment, including credit card machines.

Despite the elaborate entry, the shop’s owner told CBS Los Angeles the thieves were unable to breach the store’s safe. The owner said he had reinforced the safe with “heavy metals” following a similar burglary attempt in 2023. While the safe held, the burglars fled with other property and caused extensive damage.

“We are afraid. We can’t sleep,” the owner, who wasn’t identified, told CBS Los Angeles.
