NOTORIOUS THIEF SENTENCED TO HOUSE ARREST – ATLANTA, GA 

Earlier this month, 86-year-old Doris Payne was arrested after she stole a $2,000 necklace from a department store. Payne was observed concealing the necklace in her back pocket. She then tried to leave the store. She was charged with a felony after the incident. Payne pleaded guilty on 12/11/19. A DeKalb County judge ordered her to serve four months of house arrest and three years of probation. Payne has committed crimes for at least 63 years The Jewelers Security Alliance has featured Payne’s criminal escapades in alerts dating back to the 1970s.
