GRAB AND RUN – TAMPA, FL

On 09/20/23, at 1:00 p.m., two unidentified female subjects approached a jewelry kiosk in a mall and asked about leasing options. While the sales associate explained leasing options, the first subject asked to see a Miami Cuban chain. She was shown the chain and she stated she liked it. While discussing the lease options, she stated she might be interested so the chain was moved over by the register. She continued to ask the associate questions about the matching bracelet and was shown it, and she stated how she liked it, but said no and asked to try on the necklace one more time to confirm.

As the second subject asked a question, the sales associate told the subject trying on the chain that only one item could be tried on at a time. The subject who was described as wearing baby blue gives the necklace back so the other subject could see the bracelet and the necklace. The subject tried on the bracelet that matches the necklace she liked. She then saw a chain and asked to see the charm on it. It was put on, but the sales associate had the necklace wrapped throughout her hand and fingers to secure it. As the sales associate went to show her on her hand, she snatched the chain and charm and the other subject attempted to grab the other chain but was unsuccessful. Both subjects then began to walk away laughing towards a department store’s exit. A report was filed with the Tampa Police for further investigation.
