Indianapolis, Indiana – Police say five people, including two juveniles, are in custody after employees were “restrained” and $2 million in merchandise was stolen during a jewelry store robbery on the southeast side of Indianapolis.
Police were called just before 1 p.m. Monday to the 4900 block of S. Emerson Avenue on report of an ongoing business robbery. The address is for King Jewelers near the intersection of Emerson and E. Thompson Road on the city’s southeast side.
Indianapolis Metropolitan police officials have since confirmed to FOX59/CBS4 that two people were “restrained” with duct tape and zip ties during the robbery. No one was injured during the robbery, but employees said the suspects were armed with guns.
The suspects reportedly stole precious metals, cash and jewelry worth over $2,000,000 from the store at gunpoint before fleeing in a car.
IMPD said detectives identified five suspects that were involved in the robbery as well as the vehicle they fled in. Soon, Indiana State Police and local agencies in Boone County were able to track down the vehicle on I-65 near Lebanon.
Officials said ISP troopers attempted a traffic stop, but that the suspect vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. After a PIT maneuver from police, the pursuit came to an end after crossing into Clinton County.
All five suspects reportedly got out of the crashed car and began running away on foot. Eventually, all five were apprehended.
Police said three of the suspects were adults. The other two were juveniles.
Police identified the adults as Freibrth Adrian Jose Perreira, 31; Oneiver Alfonso Sambrano Garcia, 20; and Jonnder David Mercedes Martinez, 31. All were arrested on a preliminary charge of armed robbery.
The juveniles were 16 and 17 years old, according to IMPD.
“Numerous police drones, K9s, and the ISP helicopter assisted in the search,” IMPD wrote in a news release. “The suspect vehicle and several bags of evidence were recovered.”
