Sacramento, CA- Two men were arrested in connection with an attempted robbery that left a person dead back in April, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
SCSO said deputies responded to reports of multiple suspects attempting to rob a jewelry store on April 18, in the 7400 block of Stockton Boulevard.
The investigation determined that the suspects arrived at the location in six stolen vehicles. One of the cars was used to drive into the businesses, hitting a 72-year-old man.
The suspects were met with an armed security guard before fleeing the area, SCSO said.
The man who was hit was taken to the hospital where he died 10 days later.
Automated License Plate Readers were used to track the vehicles associated with the suspects and connect evidence across multiple jurisdictions, the sheriff’s office said.
With the help of authorities in the Bay Area, detectives identified 35-year-old Jarren Frazier of Stockton and 24-year-old Alfredo Colmenero-Martinez of Oakland as the suspects.
Sacramento deputies said that Frazier is suspected of planning and coordinating the attempted robbery, while Colmenero-Martinez is suspected of driving the car that hit the victim.
Arrest warrants for Colmenero-Martinez for murder and Frazier for attempted robbery and conspiracy was issued by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
On August 12, Colmenero-Martinez was arrested in Tracy and Frazier was arrested in Concord.
Both men were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where they remain ineligible for bail.
