Toronto police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man who allegedly shot a security officer at Fairview Mall in a robbery last week.
Kyle Douglas Prouse, 53, is wanted in connection with a series of robberies and break-and-enters dating back to 2023 at banks and jewelry stores in Ontario and Quebec, Toronto police said in a news release Monday.
The most recent event occurred Tuesday morning at North York’s Fairview Mall, where Prouse allegedly robbed a jeweley store and shot a member of the security team who confronted him. The officer was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but is now in stable condition.
The suspect fled the area in a white van, headed south on Don Mills Road, police said. The van was later recovered in the area of Shaughnessy Boulevard and George Henry Boulevard. The suspect then fled that area in a black Honda Accord, police said.
In a previous release, police described Prouse as a white man who was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up, grey pants, a blue baseball cap, a white medical mask and black shoes at the time of the robbery. There were flecks of white paint on his clothes, police said.
Prouse is from Montreal but also has ties to Toronto and Vancouver, police said.
The cash reward police are offering will remain in effect until June 30, according to the release.
